About the Department

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Shillong Medical College provides comprehensive education and clinical training in women’s health, with a focus on care throughout all stages of life, from adolescence to menopause. Students gain hands-on experience in antenatal care, labour and delivery, gynaecological surgeries, infertility management, and preventive health services. With a strong emphasis on maternal and reproductive health, the department prepares future doctors to provide skilled, compassionate, and evidence-based care. Through clinical exposure in both hospital and community settings, students develop the knowledge and practical skills required to address a wide range of women’s health needs.
