About the Department

The Department of Ophthalmology at Shillong Medical College provides comprehensive eye care services with a focus on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of eye conditions. The department is committed to improving and preserving vision while ensuring patient safety, wellbeing, and quality of care. The department also supports community-based eye health initiatives through rural eye care programmes in collaboration with NPCB & VI, as well as paediatric eye care services in collaboration with RBSK. With a strong emphasis on compassionate and patient-centred care, the department strives to make quality eye care accessible to patients across diverse communities.
