About the Department

The Department of Orthopaedics at Shillong Medical College provides specialized education and clinical training in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries. Students gain practical exposure to a wide range of clinical conditions, including trauma, fractures, joint disorders, and congenital abnormalities, through outpatient services, surgical procedures, and emergency care. With an emphasis on both surgical and non-surgical approaches, the department prepares future doctors to manage musculoskeletal conditions effectively. Through hands-on clinical training, students develop the skills required to restore mobility, relieve pain, and improve the overall quality of life of patients.
